A resident of Grapevine, Jonathan’s technique relies on spontonaeity and an intense use of two-dimensional foreshadowing.

Show opens Saturday, May 2nd

Jeff Riley’s layered imagery explores ideas of portraiture and its limitations for understanding. With a questioning eye he captures the fine line where external stimuli and the idea of an inner self overlap to tell the truest exposure of a person.

An ardent student of analog, Jeff’s tools range from medium format to large 8×10 negatives. All photographs in the show are Traditional Silver Gelatin prints.

Artist Reception on Saturday, May 2nd from 6-8pm. Free

Nick Hennies and Sandy Ewen of the Weird Weeds will perform a few improvisational sets starting at 8pm. $5

Jeff’s work will be hanging in the Engine Gallery at the Firehouse from May 2nd-May 31st.

The Immortal Toy: Holga Photography by Ryan Stone

TAGS: None

ryan_stone1The Metrognome Collective is proud to hang the photography of Ryan Stone at our favorite Satellite Gallery, the Chat Room Pub.

An obsessive documentarian, Ryan constantly carries one of several varieties of toy camera, and runs through one-two rolls of film every day. Working the fickle nature of the Holga in hand with a sheer mass of captured subject, Ryan’s talent lies in an absolute dedication and a notable eye for color. Intimately familiar with alternative process, this photographer brings excellence to the walls of the Chat Room.

Show hangs through the end of May.
